TheBlaze’s Mike Opelka Surveys New Yorkers on Rolling Stone’s Controversial ‘The Bomber’ Cover
The extremely progressive Rolling Stone
magazine has found itself in a public relations nightmare after
revealing that their next cover will feature Boston Marathon bombing
suspect Dzhokar Tsarnaev in a way that many have deemed favorable to the
alleged terrorist.
National drugstore chains Walgreens and
CVS have announced they won’t carry the issue in their stores. Together
the pharmacies have more than 15,000 locations nationwide, reports NBC News. Boston Mayor Thomas Menino immediately penned a sharp letter to Rolling Stone publisher Jann Wenner, writing that the cover “rewards a terrorist with celebrity treatment.”
Musicians such as Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, Disturbed vocalist David Draiman, and pop group OneRepublic have all publicly denounced the cover.
A Blaze poll launched this morning found
that of over 1,000 respondents thus far, 96 percent believe the
magazine is making the Boston bomber a Martyr, and 98 percent said they
would not buy the magazine.
In a segment aired on “Wilkow!”
Wednesday, TheBlaze reporter Mike Opelka went to Bryant Park to ask New
Yorkers what they think about the Boston Bomber on the cover of Rolling Stone.
